Running an online store day to day: stock, orders and service

5 min read

After launch, the real phase begins: daily operations. Successful stores are not always the ones spending most on marketing — they are the ones most disciplined about small details.

A daily routine under thirty minutes

Set a fixed time every morning for these tasks:

  • Review and confirm new orders
  • Check products running low on stock
  • Reply to pending WhatsApp messages and comments
  • Follow up on shipped orders not yet delivered

Stock: never sell what you do not have

The worst experience for a customer is having an order cancelled because the item is unavailable. Update quantities as soon as you sell, and either hide unavailable products or clearly mark them as out of stock with a notify-me option.

Write your customer service answers

Prepare ready answers for recurring questions: delivery time, returns, sizes, payment methods. This saves your time and keeps replies consistent no matter who answers.

When you make a mistake, apologise and fix it quickly. A customer whose problem was handled well often becomes a loyal one.

Review the numbers monthly

Once a month sit with just four numbers: order count, average order value, return rate, and best selling products. Those are enough to make better decisions than any guess.
